And We're Off

Thursday night LeeAnn picked Meir up from JFK airport.  For those who don't know, we're starting a two month road trip around the U.S.  We'll be camping out or staying with friends/family, and various people will be joining along the way.  Our (tentative) plan, is to spend two weeks in the Northeast, then go down the east coast to Atlanta, spend some time in Tennessee, go down to New Orleans then west to California (including all four corners).  From there we'll head north along the coast up to Portland and probably Seattle, then back east (that part is far from planned).

We slept at LeeAnn's parents' house and began organizing in the morning.  After we packed up the car we headed north... we drove on the 1 north to the parkway and then continued to the 87 north.  We continued to the 90 east into MA and the 7 north where we took a nice walk through the canoe meadows wildlife sanctuary in Pittsfield, MA.

Looks like the hill from Sound of Music!

Boys like trying to climb

Afterwards we continued on the 7 north for a few minutes when we stopped at the Donut Man for a doughnut.  We realized we had 2.5 hours before Shabbat to get to our destination and about 2 hours of driving ahead of us.  We jumped right back into the car and continued driving on the 7 north.  That road took us through beautiful Green Mountain National Forest in southern Vermont.  The 11 east to the 100 north took us all the way up to near Killington, VT where we spent Shabbat with some of LeeAnn's friends from Boston University.  Friday night we played games, and Saturday we took a long walk to a lake where Meir decided to go for a swim (no picture because it was Shabbat).  The walk back was a bit of a steep climb, but at least we had watermelon waiting at the end.

Tomorrow we're off to Lake George where we'll be camping for the first time!
We'll try to update whenever we can.
