It's Raining, It's Pouring

Sunday morning after eating breakfast and packing the car we took off with LeeAnn's college friends to go see Buttermilk Falls.  We were inspired to drive to this area because there was a giant picture of the falls in the house we stayed at for Shabbat.

We drove from the 100 South to the 103 West.  It did not let us down!  The water was melted snow that was extremely cold and almost stopped Meir from going it, but it could not!

The Shabbat Crew (Sammy, Zack, Rachel, Davy, Meir, LeeAnn -- Lena slept in)

Next we drove to Rutland,VT by continuing on the 103 West.  We stopped at a dollar store to stock up on some essential foods and then had a picnic on a patch of grass outside of an old age home, between two parking lots (we were looking for a park... we didn't find it)

From Rutland we took the 4 South through the border of Vermont and NY where we stopped briefly at the Vermont Welcome center (on our way to NY).

We continued to Hudson Falls, NY where we saw a hydroelectric project going on that was full of water that was not so clean.  Unclear where the actual falls were, but it was a great place for a watermelon break.

We drove on the 32 West to the 9 North where we stopped at Lake George Village.  We continued up the lake on the 9N and stopped at a few different places to camp for the night.  We checked and realized that camp sites in NY only open on May 15th so we were on our own.  We also discovered that private campsites exist and are way out of our price range.  We stopped at a nice public dock with a great view...

Only Alone!!!

And hung out there for a bit.  We thought it might be a good place to sleep on the beach, but after speaking to an older couple (Jackie and Tony), they told us we might get caught by police, and invited us to pitch our tent in their backyard.  They were very nice and this is our tent on the left of their house.

We had a picnic dinner back on the beach, then played some cards.  Finally, the rain we'd been expecting all day began and the tent got WET (it was raining on us inside)! So we gathered everything and ran to cover, drank beer and hung out in the car.  Of course Meir slept pretty well throughout the night!

We left the backyard at 10am (Meir slept well!) and hit the road for a beautiful drive with trees and of Lake George.

We continued up the 9N North to Ticonderoga where we saw another hydroelectric plant and gorgeous falls.  Apparently it was NOT 80 something degrees, like LeeAnn had thought it would be, but it was still beautiful.

We got to Fort Ticonderoga and learned that places that should be state run could be privately run.  Privately owned property is definitely NOT America's fort.

The 9N North took us to the 22 North to the 185 which took us to the State Historic Site in Crown Point.  Right before the bridge that borders NY and Vermont we saw a FREE fort and had lunch on lake Champlain.

The bridge to Vermont!

Once over the bridge we continued on the 17 East to 22A North to the 7 North where we met Meir's Aunt Lori at Shelburne farms in Shelburne, VT.  Lori's friend Caroline took us through the school she works for in the farms (which looks like Hogwarts) where we saw some farm animals.

Sheep Selfie with Lori!

Although the rain was coming down hard we did not let it bother us too much and we continued to Burlington (7North-189-89 North-15 East-117) where we are currently at Lori's house for the night.  Lila Tov from Burlington!
